The Great No-Storm of 2015

See that shallow dusting of snow glistening behind the boys here? Pretty isn't?

For this school was cancelled for…
(wait for it)…
THREE.
WHOLE.
DAYS.

(This was morning #1, Tuesday. At this point school was simply delayed 2 hours and we wanted to get our hands in that powder while it lasted. Shortly after this school was canceled for the first time that week.)

Under normal circumstances I would have welcomed 3 days permitted to hunker down at home with the boys during the week. However having just spent the week prior (9 days including the weekends, but who's counting?) home for our unexpected stay-cation, this Mama was about out of ways to keep these boys entertained when the words "The Walker School - Closed" crawled across our TV screen.

Also I must inform you, no we did not get more snow. No the roads were not impassable. No the heat did not go out at school. And yes this was the most snow that ever graced our yard. When school was canceled Thursday due to rain and 42 degrees I about. Lost. My. Marbles. But we did manage to have a great time and snag some cute pics to share from the experience.

What's the point of snow unless you can make a new friend to hang out with as long as the temperature allows? Emmet the teddy bear was kind enough to loan this guy his clothes for a few days. By the weekend there was only 2 sticks, hat, scarf, 1/2 a carrot and a couple of raisins on the grill. Left without saying good-bye. Nice manners dude.

Cooped up inside? Time for art! But not normal art: Art where you are normally not allowed to do art. Like the kitchen floor. Graffiti artists in training? Eeesh, I hope not.

Cheese!

And no Henry is not practicing for a drag show. And no that is not a horrid new shade of Cover Girl lipstick. This is what Henry looks like when I turn my back for a second and he crawls on the craft table and makes a snack out of washable Crayola markers.

Cold and bored and ready to bust their buttons, the boys had a beach party in the tub and we pretended it was St Simons time! Complete with swimsuits, Bob Marley and Jimmy Buffet.

Come Wednesday (yes only day #2) I was completely out of ideas and said as much on Facebook. Our neighbors we carpool with saw my subtle plea and Matthew was invited to spend the day there with Katie Grace. Thursday she came to us. Sharing. It's what friends do.

When 6:30 AM Friday rolled around and I woke Matty for school, he said, "Wait, what? What day is it? Do I have school? I do? Thank you God."

From the Cell Phone Treasure Box

I'm reminded every so often that my sporadic postings here are, we'll say, unsatisfactory and that when one starts a blog it's best for said author to go to the trouble to post on occasion. So to her, er, "those" I say, yeah yeah yeah, ok I get it! I hope this smattering of treasures from the cell phone treasure box in part makes up for this latest infraction of mine. And on a completely unrelated note, Happy Early Birthday An Jen Jen ;)

Just a sunny day at the park. This past weekend, getting some Vitamin D after too many cold and cloudy days.

Henry can climb onto his rocking moose all on his own now and rock rather enthusiastically. We need to move the moose, lest he go through the glass like his Uncle Ted.

The last day of school before the Christmas break. Pajama Day. I mean come on, is there anything better?

The Tuesday before school let out I attempted to try to make up those times far too often I just can't come to everything at school. Gingerbread House Building Day: picked a good day! Baked the house pieces for 4 houses, brought them early (after 2 failed attempts), brought candy and helped the kids with construction. Of course a wicked migraine struck that morning, but the cute kid in yellow never knew, he just knew I was there. And that smile is all that matters.

Somehow this kid knew there was a water main break near our house just by looking at our driveway, but it took the city a little over a week, 3 visits and 6 guys to come to the same conclusion.

When others are in church, we're still in our jammies at noon on Sundays. Not saying I'm proud of that, just stating observable fact.
