Matty turns 3!

Another year in sweet Matty's life has come and gone and what better reason to get together with friends and family than to celebrate our precious boy turning another year older! Matty is becoming such a big boy now. We're in the full throes of potty training, he's learning more and more at school like vowels and recognizing his name, he's embracing matching and memory games and he's teaching me a thing or two all the time. We're so proud of the lively, social, smart, personable and sweet boy he's growing into and I can't wait to see how much he blossoms in the coming year!

Matty's BIG 3rd birthday present was the coolest play set from Play Nation from his parents and grandparents. So rather than a destination party, and since we so relish in time at home, I decided to gamble on the weather and have a backyard play date with our bestest friends. The gamble paid off and despite a soggy start to the week, we were given the grandest, most gorgeous spring day on Saturday! Mama O, Bop, L'il Mimi, Amanda, Ansley, the Hudgins, Fingers, MacIsaacs and McNeelys were all on hand to help us celebrate and break in our new play set and back yard.

It was such a special afternoon of playing, drawing, bubbling, running and screaming! All our friends' sweet kids played so nicely together. I think one of my favorite moments was when the children dragged the blue tunnel up the stairs of the play set and positioned it down the slide and starting take turns crawling and sliding down. What smart kiddos!

Brendan is such a good little athlete! He really can hit the ball! Almost too well since he managed to get his Daddy, Ben, upside the head with notable force at one point! *No serious injuries resulted during the baseball game.

I adore this picture of our family Amanda took at the party. I am trying to convince her to do a photoshoot of us. She has such a talented eye for capturing a moment!

Maybe Matty's most favorite birthday present was quality time with his Daddy who was home with us for several days. Leaving only to tie up final loose ends on Seabox and should be heading home in just a matter of days!

Matty was very clear that he wanted a chocolate cake for his birthday party. Who was I to disappoint him on his special day! It took a village but we managed to get those pesky candles out so the real party and sugar-fest could begin!

Apples and Bananas

I love it when Matty teaches me something new. Something I know that will be happening more and more often the older he gets. Yesterday he taught me a new song. They must be teaching this at school to teach the children about their vowel sounds.
