I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July! And lots of fun celebrating with fireworks, family and friends! Our 4th ended up a bit more mellow than we'd hoped. While we didn't have firm plans in place leading up to the holiday, we'd planned last minute to hang out with the McNeely's. We were really looking forward to it too, until Saturday morning when Ben and I came down with some accidentally self-induced food poisoning! Luckily, Matty was fine and was no where near the tainted chicken from Friday! So he felt great, played quiety and so sweetly while we recovered...but next year we will make it to the fireworks on the square, so help us!
Fortunately, we were able to squeeze in some family fun on Friday before dinner though! We took some walks before it go too hot, played outside a lot and well, nothing says summer like bubbles and sidewalk chalk!
I also had Monday off as an added bonus so Matty and I spent the day staying busy outside, lots of coloring, dancing to CDs and playing with Trish who came up to visit for the afternoon. Matty was in full-on performance mode while Trish was around so bedtime came early last night and he crashed hard! It's so exhausting being the center of attention!
All in all, we had a great long weekend. Matty's been so sweet and wonderful and it just does my heart good to be away from work and in Mommy-mode soaking him up! He's learning new words all the time, and is a master at animal noises now. It's hilarious, our own personal Ol' Macdonald. He's drinking from a big boy cup now almost 100%, except when he's in the car or just too busy to be slowed down and I just don't want to hassle with clean up! He's working on climbing the stairs and tries to not stop at each step and just keep going. I can tell he's going to be a very determined little boy.
Now Matty's back to school and I'm back to work but we're thankful it's a short week and are so looking forward to everything this week will bring. It brings us Jen, Kevin and Hudson on Thursday and Patsy and Craig on Friday! Lots of great family time in store, and hopefully the zoo on Sunday, too!
