This week started for Ben and I by us finally joining a church. We had attended First United Methodist Church several times and decided to make it our church home officially on Sunday. We were able to meet a lot of people before and after the special membership Sunday service, and I think we are going to be very happy with our choice. Now we are able to get the ball rolling to have Matty christened in Austin hopefully in early summer. We are very excited to get everything set up so we can take Matty to Texas to meet the rest of his Daddy's side of the family!
Matty and I ventured out into the world for the first time this week by ourselves! And everyday we have run errands, had lunch with Ben or friends, but no matter how many times we get out of the house, I am still getting used to what a production it is! I can't get over how much his car seat weighs! I am grateful it's clearly a sturdy piece of equipment, but heaven help me when he gets bigger. At least I know how I will be shedding those last few pregnancy pounds!
Among our outings this week was Ben's softball game Thursday night. We joined all our Mommy friends and their little boys: Leslie and Brendan, Hilary and Davis and Caroline and Jake. It was lots of fun, but I must confess I spent much more time watching where the softballs were flying out of the field than the actual game itself :) The Moms followed the game up with a nice long lunch on Friday. We've had lots of fun this week, though I think we have a little time before the boys enjoy those outings as much as the Moms do.
Ben and I celebrated our third anniversary Wednesday night. Romantically sharing a frozen pizza from Trader Joes (thanks Mimi and Amanda!) after we put the little one to bed. Hopefully Saturday night we will celebrate with a dinner out, but regardless of the fact that there was no fancy dinner out, it was very special. We are just so happy to have Matty with us finally and watching him figure out little things here and there, there was no better way to spend anniversary number 3 than just being together the 3 of us.

Ansley's Christening
Matty's cousin Ansley was christened at a wonderful service in her Grandmother Mimi's gorgeous garden on Sunday. Matty and his Daddy stayed home to spend some quality time with Mama O, Daddy O and Uncle Ted, but I was able to go, and Ben and I are so honored to be Ansley's Godparents! The lady of the hour was so pretty in her christening gown and handled all the attention as she always does: calm, collected and full of poise! Pretty impressive for 7 months old!
The service was perfect and the minister gave the most wonderful reading. A passage from Kahil Gibran's "The Prophet." I loved it so much I had to look it up and read it again for myself:
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,

Meeting Mama O, Daddy O and Uncle Ted
We had a wonderful visit this weekend with Ben's parents and brother! We had a great time introducing them to Matthew and comparing Ben's baby pictures to Matty. The resemblance was very clear! Even a little spooky! Even little traits that I thought he had inherited from me clearly were given by his Daddy once the photo albums came out! Mama and Daddy O came bearing lots of presents and one very special present in particular: the Texas state flag that was flying over the capital building when Matty was born. Matt thought it was very cool!
Matty and his Uncle Ted had a great time hanging out watching the Masters on Sunday. He wanted to show Ted how much he loved the same things he did, so he was sporting his "I may be small but I'm still the Big Kahuna" onesie from Maui and hugging his Baylor teddy bear!
We had a great time and were sad to see them leave this morning but hope to see them again very soon! And Matt is definitely looking forward to his first trip to Austin!

Matty's Birth
Hi everyone!
Well it finally happened! 5 days late and not a moment too soon! Matthew Lee Browning arrived into the world Sunday March 30 at 10:49AM. 6 pounds, 10 oz, 20.5 inches long. He is happy, healthy and doing great! Ben and I are so thrilled he is finally here! It's hard to believe we have only had him a mere 10 days...we can't remember what we did before!
Mimi and Bop were on their way to an engagement party in Macon Saturday night when Ben called to suggest they change their plans! They raced to Atlanta at 1AM to be with us in the hospital. We were also lucky that his Aunt Jen, Uncle Kevin and cousin Hudson were able to be in town as well. We were planning on going to P.F. Chang's for dinner that night but had to make an unplanned detour to Northside Hospital instead. He was born on Sunday morning just in time for Aunt Jen and Hud to have to go back to Winston-Salem for Hud to start school back after Spring Break. But they had a few moments to say their first hellos.
Matty has been to the pediatrician twice since his birth and is right on target with his weight and development. However, to our surprise he measured 19.5 inches...guess that bump on his head on the way out was bigger than we thought! He is a very good eater and is definitely keeping his Mommy busy in that department! We had a feeding consultation this week, and to my surprise he had gained 4.5 ounces since Monday! Twice what they look for! Guess he has this eating thing pretty down pat!
He got to meet his cousin Ansley the other day, who at 6 months old looks like a teenager compared to Matty! She is so big and smart and already rolling over, I know she will be teaching him all sorts of tricks before we know it.
Right now we are very much looking forward to a visit from Ben's folks and brother, Mama O, Daddy O and Uncle Ted in just a couple of days. So expect more pics from that visit to be posted soon!
Other than that, life is just going great! Stay tuned for more!
