Recent Fun

I realize I haven't posted any pictures of Matty since his birthday party. So here is some of what we've been up to since then.

After Matty's party, Ben had to go back to New Jersey to put a nice little bow on Seabox, which he did and we are thrilled to say he is home 100% now! Such a great feeling to be a family again! But the weekend after Matty's party the two of us were on our own so we went to Macon for what's becoming a bit of a tradition, the Fired Works Pottery show which I love! This was taken out front of the show. For sale but we resisted.

Then afterwards, Ginny Wall had been telling us we had to take Matty to the train yards, so we finally figured out where that was, were told to "just disregard the 'No Trespassing' signs" and Matty had a great time seeing the trains being moved around the yard. He even was honked at by an engineer who waved and put on a good show for his three-year old spectator.

Here are a few pics of Matty's Easter Party at school. I think he had fun having both parents representing!

Colin Finger's 2nd birthday was last weekend and it was a great preview for what we did today! See Thomas the Tank Engine in Chatanooga! They boys were so excited, they thought this was the event we had bought tickets for and had been waiting for for months!

Julianna might have a hard time waiting 20 years for her first legal sip...

Free as a Bird

"Ziplining: Where you can be tethered by a cable and still be free as a bird!" Saw that the other day on the Facebook page for North Georgia Canopy Tours and it's so true!

This past Christmas, it being the first Christmas without Mom, I was struggling with what to get Daddy. I almost always gave them a couple present, something about wine, something for one of the houses, etc. I wanted to make a statement about just Daddy and give him something truly unique. I always think an experience is a neat gift. Daddy has always had a moderate adventurous spirit, and didn't indulge in too much of that with Mom as she was, as we all know, fairly conservative with things that could risk her life like, well, horse back riding.

(no disrespect, love you Mom!)

I had always wanted to go ziplining myself and thought what fun for the two of us to do this together! So that's what I gave Daddy for Christmas and a couple of weeks ago he cashed it in and we drove up 985 to Lula, GA and North Georgia Canopy Tours and oh what a time we had!

What you would think would be a completely unnatural feeling, flying through the treetops at upwards of 40 mph, actually felt like the most natural thing ever! The guides themselves were so comfortable with the experience, the gears, the cables and breaks, that we felt completely at ease immediately and just went with the flow.

The flow started "low and slow" and quickly went higher and faster! 12 ziplines (1 mile of zipline), 2 sky bridges, a 760-foot zipline over a pond and a 30-foot rappel finale.

The final zipline was a double zip and a race between Daddy and me. He won but seeing as how he outweighs me at least by a couple of pounds I felt it was a slightly unbalanced competition!

Hands down one of my most favorite experiences and I cannot wait to do it again! We will take Matty to do this when he is older and I would recommend it to anyone!

Getting So Smart

In my most recent parent / teacher conference with Ms Rowena we talked about the importance of small children knowing their full names, their parents real names, their address, etc. God forbid we ever get separated and a police man needed to know how to locate me or Ben, he can just ask Matty now. I am really proud how fast he committed this to memory and we practice it regularly. He knows the house number too now, wow!

More Before and After!

I didn't know I could LOVE a powder room so much until...

Before.

And after!

Before.

And after!

Feels like I'm in France...in the bathroom.
Ok I admit it's really weird, but it's the little things.
